Brendan Kirwan

Brendan holds an honors degree in Wildlife Biology from the Institute of Technology Tralee. His interest in peatlands developed from his field work during his studies, which amplified during his nine month internship with Wetland Surveys Ireland.

He has previously worked voluntarily with the Killarney National Park Education Centre and has been a strandings official with the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group since 2010. Brendan has worked with Wetland Surveys Ireland since the completion of his internship in March 2014. Since joining Wetland Surveys Ireland Brendan has gained a broad range of experience in ornithological surveys and monitoring, habitat surveying and mapping, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), report compilations and nature conservation studies.

Since joining Wetland Surveys Ireland Brendan has been involved in a number of nature conservation projects, including, the Kildare Wetlands Surveys of 2013 and 2014, and the Sneem and Killorglin Town and Environs Biodiversity Action Plans.

Brendan has worked extensively on Development Plans and Strategies, providing Natura Impact Reports and Appropriate Assessment reports for national, regional, and local area development plans and strategies.
